
Dr. Irfan A. Handoo
Irfan A. Handoo earned his undergraduate degree from UMKC and his Medical Doctorate at the UMKC School of Medicine in 2005. After graduating from medical school, Dr. Handoo completed his residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center at Wichita, where he also completed a psychopharmacology fellowship under Dr. Sheldon Preskorn. Dr. Handoo is Board Certified in Psychiatry, a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and a member of the American Psychiatric Association.
Dr. Handoo believes in a comprehensive biopsychosocial approach to treating patients. He believes in the value of medication management and psychotherapy and that the physician-patient relationship is the most important in medicine today.
He enjoys meeting with patients and their families and considers all situations and circumstances in helping formulate comprehensive diagnostic and treatment plans. Dr. Handoo believes in a compassionate approach that considers the patient’s individual needs and is an empathetic and caring provider who takes the time to get to know his patients.
Dr. Handoo appears in several journals, including The Journal of Child and Adolescent Psychopharmacology. He sees patients for a wide variety of disorders, including but not limited to:

Dr. Handoo has a clinical interest and extensive experience in treatment-resistant depression and does see patients for IV Ketamine treatments for depression and TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) for treatment-resistant depression. Dr. Handoo sees patients ages 15 and older in the adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations. Dr. Handoo is fluent in English, Spanish, and Urdu. He sees patients for medication management and psychotherapy and accepts new patients.
